Europe Day 2018 – Celebrations in Gozo

Europe Direct Information Centre – Victoria Gozo in collaboration with the European Commission Representation in Malta celebrated Europe Day on Sunday, 6th May with a family event at Villa Rundle Garden in Victoria, Gozo.

People had the opportunity to enjoy an afternoon with on-going entertainment at the amphitheatre by the dance groups, Alegria Flamenco Gozo, Mnarja Folk Group, Turning Pointe Dance Theatre, Gozo Gymnastics Academy, Netta Dancers, Gozo Visual and Performing Arts School and DCapitals Band.

Information stands from the Europe Direct Information Centre -Victoria Gozo, Europe Direct Valletta Malta, European Union Programme Agency Malta, European Asylum Support Office, Europe for Citizens, EU Funds and Programmes Division, Malta European Parliament Liason Office in Malta, Urbact Malta and the Central Public Library – Malta were present and informed those present with the role of their office and how the citizens can benefit from these offices. EU publications and promotional material were distributed to those who attended these stands. Various EU Member State Embassies participated as well by providing promotional material from their respective countries.

The Institute of Tourism Studies Gozo participated and provided free and delicious food tasting of different European cuisines which were enjoyed by all present.

Children had the opportunity to meet the European Star Mascot who entertained the children throughout the event. Bouncing castle, slide, balloon modelling and face painting with EU flags by Buzzy Kids Entertainment and EU related craft by Bejta Crafts were available.

Games and Quizzes about the European Union were enjoyed by all.
